Why is CJDE changing its name to CDEA?
We're changing the name of Certified Junior Detection Engineer (CJDE) to Certified Detection Engineering Associate (CDEA) to better reflect the certification and the skills it covers.
Is CDEA a new certification?
No. CDEA is the new name for CJDE. It is not a new or different certification.
Is the certification changing?
No. This is a name change only. The course content, hands on labs, learning experience, and exam are not changing.
When will the name change?
CJDE will officially become CDEA from 15 September 2026.
If you're currently studying CJDE
I'm currently studying CJDE. What does this mean for me?
You don't need to do anything. Your access and progress will stay exactly the same, and you can continue your training as normal.
Will I lose any of my course progress?
No. Your progress will not be affected by the name change.
Will the exam change?
No. The exam remains the same.
I purchased the CJDE but haven't started yet. What happens to my purchase?
Your existing purchase remains valid. The certification you purchased as CJDE will transition to the new CDEA name.
Do I need to buy CDEA if I already have access to CJDE?
No. If you already have access to CJDE, you will continue to have access when it becomes CDEA. There is nothing else you need to purchase.
If you've already earned CJDE
I already have the CJDE certification. Is it still valid?
Yes. Your CJDE certification remains valid. The change to CDEA does not affect certifications already earned. If you prefer, you can download a new digital version of your certification with the CDEA name.
What happens to my Credly badge?
Credly badges will be updated from 15 September 2026. If you have previously downloaded your CJDE badge, it will remain available.
What happens if I already have a CJDE printed certificate and challenge coin?
You can download a CDEA digital certificate, but we will not be replacing existing CJDE printed certificates or challenge coins.
What will my certificate say if I complete the certification after the name change?
If you complete the certification after 15 September 2026, your certificate will use the new Certified Detection Engineering Associate (CDEA) name.

The CDEA is designed for learners who want to develop practical skills in detection engineering and learn how to create, test, and improve security detections.
Do I need professional detection engineering experience?
No. Professional detection engineering experience is not required.
