What is Pre-Access?

After purchase, your certification remains in Pre-Access until you manually activate it.

This means you can purchase a certification now and start it whenever you're ready. For example, you could purchase a course this year and choose to activate it next year. 

Your Training Access and Exam Access timers only begin once you click “Start” and accept the Terms and Conditions.

Important:
• Access timers do not begin at the time of purchase
• Once activated, training access cannot be paused
• Training remains active until the access period expires

Checking Your Remaining Access

You can see exactly how much time you have left directly on your course overview page. A countdown shows when both your Training Access and Exam Access expire, displayed as time remaining (for example, "Expires in 10 months, 2 weeks, 4 hours").

It's worth checking this periodically so you know where you stand, particularly as you approach your exam.

What is Training Access?

Training Access includes access to:
• Course Modules
• Hands-on Labs

Once activated, Training Access lasts for the duration listed in the Certification Access Overview table.

Course Access Extensions

If you need additional study time, you can purchase a training access extension from the Store tab.

Available extensions:
• 31 day extension – £100
• 62 day extension – £150

Additional rules:
• Clients are normally permitted to purchase one extension
• Additional extension requests may be reviewed on a case by case basis under special circumstances, please contact support with relevant details so we can review your request. 
• Extending Training Access does not extend Exam Access

Need More Time?

Each certification includes the option to purchase one Certification Content Access Extension.

If you've already used your extension and need additional time, please submit a support ticket. The team can enable the option for you to purchase a second extension through the Store.

Important:
Second extensions are enabled on request and are not available by default.

In exceptional circumstances, such as a serious illness or significant personal event, we may review requests for additional support on a case-by-case basis.

Where appropriate, you may be asked to provide supporting evidence, such as medical documentation or other relevant information, before a request can be considered.

What is Exam Access?

Exam Access determines how long you have to complete your certification exam attempts.

Key rules:
• Exam Access lasts 12 months from the moment you activate the certification
• Two exam attempts are included with the certification
• If Exam Access expires before you pass, a new certification purchase is required
• Exam Access cannot normally be extended
• There is currently no standalone Exam Access extension available

Last Minute Rule
You may start your exam at any point before your 12 month Exam Access expires, even if only a few minutes remain.

Once started, you receive the full exam duration regardless of when the access window expires.

Example:
If you start the BTL2 exam, which includes a 72 hour practical assessment, shortly before your Exam Access expires, you will still receive the full 72 hours to complete it.

Exam Attempts

First Attempt
• Included with your certification purchase
• Must be completed within the 12 month Exam Access period

Second Attempt
• A second retake is available if you do not pass the first attempt
• A mandatory 10 day cooldown period applies before scheduling the second attempt
• The cooldown is automatic and cannot be skipped, shortened, or removed

Third Attempt
• A third and final attempt may be purchased for £100 if both included attempts are unsuccessful
• Third attempts are reviewed on a case by case basis
• A valid justification may be required by the Support Team before approval

Important Notes
• Exam Access cannot be extended beyond 12 months under normal circumstances
• If your Exam Access expires, you must repurchase the certification to regain access. 
• Course extensions do not extend Exam Access
• If you have already passed the certification, you are not permitted to retake the exam
• All exam attempts must be completed within the active 12 month Exam Access period

Repurchasing an Expired Certification

If your Training Access and Exam Access have both expired, you'll need to repurchase the certification to regain access. See How to Repurchase an Expired Certification

Important:

• Repurchases are handled by the Support team and are not available directly through the eLearning platform
• Raise a support ticket to start the repurchase process
• The team will confirm pricing, set up your new purchase, and reactivate your access once payment is complete

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still take the exam if my Training Access expired?

Yes. As long as your 12 month Exam Access is still active, you can continue to take the exam even if your course materials and labs are no longer accessible.

Can I Download Material for Offline Use?

No, course materials are not available as downloadable PDFs or for offline access. All training content must be accessed through the online learning platform to maintain content security and ensure materials remain up to date with current industry best practices.

However, some supporting resources may be available for download throughout the course, including glossary pages and external reference materials.

Clients are also encouraged to take personal notes during their studies to support revision and knowledge retention.

Can I extend Exam Access beyond 12 months?

Exam Access cannot normally be extended.

Can I purchase more than three exam attempts?

No. After the third and final attempt, a full certification repurchase is required.

What happens if both course and exam access expire?

You must repurchase the certification to regain access to both training and exams. See the Repurchasing an Expired Certification section above for full details.

Access limits help ensure that certification knowledge remains current and reduces long term skill fade.
