In this article, you'll find out when an account ban or suspension can be appealed, how to submit an appeal, and what to expect during the review process.
Overview
Account bans or suspensions can be issued for breaches of our Exam Integrity Policy, Terms of Use, or other Centri policies. Common reasons include:
- Breach of the Exam Integrity Policy (for example, AI use, account sharing, third-party assistance during an exam)
- Sharing, distributing, or reproducing Centri course or exam content publicly or privately
- Posting course or exam material on platforms such as GitHub, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, Discord, or any other public or community channel
- Fraudulent activity, impersonation, or misrepresentation
- Violations of our Terms of Use
If your account has been suspended or banned, you may appeal the decision in some cases. Each appeal is reviewed individually by the relevant team based on the evidence available.
Important:
- Submitting an appeal does not automatically lift a ban or suspension while the case is under review
- All appeal decisions are final and cannot be escalated further
- Repeat appeals for the same case will not be considered
Appeals That May Be Considered
We may review and reinstate access in cases where:
- The breach appears unintentional or based on a misunderstanding of the rules
- New evidence is provided that wasn't available at the time of the original decision
- A technical issue or system error contributed to the breach being flagged
- The case involves a first-time, low-severity breach with clear willingness to comply going forward
Appeals That Will Not Be Considered
Decisions are final and cannot be appealed in the following cases:
- Confirmed sharing or distribution of Centri course or exam content, including questions, solutions, walkthroughs, lessons, lab content, or recordings
- Confirmed use of AI tools, third-party assistance, or account sharing during an exam
- Impersonation or completing an exam on someone else's behalf
- Repeat breaches of any Centri policy
- Cases involving deliberate fraud or misrepresentation
How to Submit an Appeal
To submit an appeal, raise a support ticket and include:
- Your full name and the email address linked to your account
- A clear explanation of your version of events
- Any supporting evidence (for example, screenshots, logs, or relevant context)
- Confirmation that you've read and understood the policy you've been accused of breaching
Review Process
Once your appeal is submitted, here's what happens next:
- The relevant team reviews your appeal alongside the original case evidence
- Reviews typically take 10 to 15 working days depending on the complexity of the case
- You'll receive an email notification once a decision has been made
Important:
- Decisions are made independently and based solely on the facts of the case
- Outcomes may include reinstatement of access or the original decision being upheld
- All decisions are final once issued
